Today a highly placed and respect religious officiant patted me on the back so warmly and said something incredible. He said that he would always look to me to and share with others that I was a survivor; what an honor ~ I am just a normal guy. Let us concentrate on what makes a suvivor; five steps up,one back. That is still four steps up in my math! But why keep taking steps; why not just sit on the step and let the world pass us by? Because we need to look over that next step, this is what we should keep achieving. I've had co-workers that have committed suicide after being fired. The act of being fired was probably not the only reason for these devastating decisions, but it could have been 'the straw that broke the camel's back'. Business, not personal reasons, are the guidelines that were adhered to.

But shouldn't we, as decision makers, as 'leaders', as professionals, take all matters in to view?  If we fire a production worker, would their family be able to afford our products?  Would they feel loyal enough to buy our products?  Are there side effects that we should take in to account in our business decisions, or just do the 'military' gut-reaction decision and do what is immediately for a bottom line?  What consequences do our business decisions have in Real Time, in Real Life?

This [Great] country still ignores mental heath as a reality and ignores or denies its significance; for business, insurance and perception.  I challenge all of us 'leaders' to break that stigma and incorporate it in to our business and lifestyle.

What makes a survivor?   Let us look at the positive and see how to incorporate this in to our 'business' model and daily ethic.  We should progress positively with this simple goal in mind and consider all aspects of our knee-jerk decisions and influence, lead and share hope and progression among our subordinates and peers. Win - Win!

... have you ever suggested, '... lead by example'?  Well, now might be the time to start!  Five steps up; one back ~ still four up!
