Pakistan Become No 1 Mobile Phone Importer Rs.$465 Million in 8 Month
Mobile phone imports are on the increase in pakistan, seeing a rise of 7.68 % throughout the July-Feb period of this financial year (2014-15) compared to the same term last year.According to the most recent figures from Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), the cell phone imports throughout these eight months amount to $465.658 million. This represents a rise of $33.225 million over the $432.433 million spent on imports throughout the last financial year.
When comparing the Feb 2015 information on a month over month and year over year basis, mobile phone imports within the country rose by 28.61 % and 62.82 % over the imports throughout Feb 2014 and january 2015, severally.
The imports throughout Feb 2015 amount to $73.161 million, that represents a rise of $16.279 million over the $56.882 million spent on imports throughout the month of Feb 2014.
Similarly, there was a rise of $28.228 million over the $44.933 million spent on mobile imports throughout the month of january 2015.
The PBS information also discovered a similar increase within the overall telecommunication imports within the country, which rose by 15.43 % during the July-February amount of this financial year over the same term last year. The telecommunication imports throughout this period amount to $961.965 million, representing a rise of $128.566 million over the imports of $833.399 million throughout the last financial year.

The imports throughout Feb 2015 amount to $115.454 million, which represents a rise of $8.143 million over the $107.311 million spent on imports throughout the month of Feb 2014. Similarly, there was a rise of $20.076 million over the $95.378 million spent on telecommunication imports throughout the month of january 2015.
The statistics for this financial year indicate that valuable exchange continues to be spent on the import of telecommunication goods, that in turn has led to the broadening of the trade deficit of pakistan.
