Until recently I kept my HTC Desire X mobile phone. Not a big phone but reliable with a pretty good camera. Also, it slid right in my jeans pocket. Mobile phone screens are now growing much larger. Camera resolution is clearer. More memory. More apps. More usage.
Some things still haven’t changed though.
Some websites are still not responsive against a range of mobile devices. I have had issues even clicking on the right button because the button is too small. It’s also takes years (obvious sarcasm) to load and certain graphic just don’t load. Definitely not a positive experience.
Google Webmasters Is Your Friend
Click on the Search Traffic tab in Google Webmasters, then click on the Mobile Usability button. You will find valuable information here that will make your hotel website more mobile friendly.
5 Things To Consider:
Viewport
A viewport scales pages as per the correct mobile browsers ensuring maximum usability. You want everything to be presented professionally and not broken (e.g some fonts larger than others)
Touch Elements
Try and make sure your links and buttons aren’t too close together as your finger will press the wrong button. It’s so frustrating and turns the user off.
Font Size Display
Your font size must comply with mobile usability standards making sure text is large enough to read without users zooming in and moving down to the next line.
Flash usage
Many mobile devices such as the millions of Apple devices have ZERO support for Flash.
Fixed-width Viewport
Make sure your pages can be easily viewed on mobile devices without scrolling left to right reading content.
