Apple Watch and iBeacon Technology

To say that the following demonstration is a true Apple Watch and iBeacon interaction is not quite true. However, the notification arriving on the Apple Watch (via the iPhone) does present a new experience for the user:

The thing that became evident to me as I started playing around with this connection was the intimacy and immediacy of the notification. Unlike the iPhone, the Apple watch notification are more personable. The sound and feel of the notification on the Apple Watch is completely different. I can see some real benefits in a number of industries, including education.

The game changer will come with the Apple Watch becoming more independent as a device. As it pulls away from the iPhone (with the release of WatchOS2), the opportunities for iBeacon and Geo-Fencing will become even more evident.
