I would take that one step further and say email marketing is like sex…
With this in mind, here are a few basic things you may like to consider when choosing an email provider.
Because you've got to have the tools, right?
1 Do they provide basic reporting tools so who know open rates/click through rates etc.
2 Do they integrate well with other services you use to run your business i.e. WordPress, Shopify etc.
3 What is the editing tool like, do you have a range of templates you can use, are there built in social media sharing tools?
4 What is their support like? Do you have to be a premium member to access?
5 Autoresponder functionality: Not all providers offer this (especially free plans)
6 Segmentation: This is important if you want to segment subscribers depending on action/product purchased etc and build a targeted sales funnel.
7 A/B testing. Super important for testing headlines
8 Education: Some providers have a good knowledge base you can dive into as and when.
9. User friendly: It's all very well signing up for a highfalutin' email provider, but if you have trouble using it effectively, then the premium might not be worth the hassle.
What would you add?
Would love to know :-)
