Are We Creating Hyperactivity? I look back at children past and then look at current and future children. I am left with the question “Are We Creating Hyperactivity?” When we were growing up, as children past, sitting around was never an option. Our days would consist of our imaginations, exploring and having adventures with our friends, in our backyards, neighborhoods and parks. We knew it was time to head home when the street lights came on. Many fun times were had and by the end of the day we had spent all our childhood energy. I observe this generation’s children, a generation of technology. Long are the days past where we would need to use our imaginations, as many of the tech gadgets today do the imagining for us and teach us to follow what is already created. Exploring now is done through a screen, whether it be online or through gaming or a combination of both. We meet our friends there and go on adventures through the virtual world. The walk to our friends to hangout has been traded in for tuning in to social media. Children’s days end when the screen is shut off and we are left with a child with a bank full of childhood energy.

“Are We Creating Hyperactivity?”

When we were growing up, as children past, sitting around was never an option.

Are We Creating Hyperactivity?
Childhood energy has not changed over the years, only the way we spend it.

We wonder why children find it difficult to sit still in school and teachers are finding more and more children exhibiting signs of hyperactivity.

Have we reached a point that childhood energy is a need of the past? Have we evolved in a way that conflicts with childhood energy?

How will we empty the childhood energy of the current generation, replacing the balance? Would we find that if this generation and future generations could find a way of spending their childhood energy, like generations past, that we would find a reduction of Hyperactivity?

Have We Created Hyperactivity?
