"It's just a watch, it's just a watch, it's just a watch." Click your ruby slippers/sneakers/flip flops together three times, chant those words, and then click "Buy".
If you don't, and are expecting more, you will be supremely disappointed. Apple got the Apple watch right, and the world got it wrong. Apple did not reinvent the watch or bring the iphone to your wrist, they just made an amazing digital watch and wildly adaptable fashion accessory.
After four weeks with the Apple Watch, and countless predictable questions, "How do you like it?" "Is it worth it", I now have some answers for you:
If you want to LOVE the Apple Watch, buy it with this mindset:
1) It's just a watch. And a really cool one. I can radically customize the watchface, color, style, etc daily (which I do). And swap out the bands regularly (which I do), and generally coordinate the watch to fit you and your lifestyle.
2) It's like awkwardly meeting your new best friend. The Apple Watch will slowly intrigue you, capture your interest, and learn what you like and what you don't like over time. You will appreciate it more on day 7, than day 1, and more in month 2, than month 1.
If you want to be DISAPPOINTED by the Apple Watch, buy it with this mindset:
1) The Apple Watch will change my life. The app ecosystem and the health features are going to whip me into shape, and dramatically change my productivity. (Um..no it won't. You will click on them all on the first day and become annoyed)
Apple built a really lovely watch, and has bundled it with some stuff you may or may not use. But it tells time like a champ. And it will match your shoes/shirt/bag/life with just a couple quick taps.
Treat it like your new BFF. Just don't get overzealous too early in the relationship
