TV Insurance vs. a Personal Agent It looks soooo easy just to dial the number and get your final expense/burial insurance. They accept everyone with no hassles and no medical questions, and provide rate locks for the term of the insurance for as little as $10/mo. Just a short interview, and BAM!, you’re insured. If it is that easy, why am I, and so many like me, trying to serve you? What makes us different? I am not here to say that getting insurance from a TV advertisement is a terrible decision, but in most cases, a better decision is to take a little time to compare. My position is that 99% of the people I see will benefit by dealing directly with a personal agent.

We have talked about the positives, automatically accepted, few or no medical questions and not having to have a salesperson meet with you (a pseudo positive). Let’s talk about how they make this happen. You will either be put into a term, not a whole life policy or put into a graded whole life policy. What do those two things mean? A term policy will provide you coverage for 10-20 years. At the end of that period, you may not be able to renew, or your renewal will be subject to medical qualification or at a much higher rate.

If it is a graded whole life product, that means that you are lumped into a pool of high risk customers. With high risk comes high cost. A phone agent or others who aren’t in the insurance industry may convince you that you cannot get insurance due to past health issues. They would be wrong. The $10/mo. person is a perfectly healthy person at the youngest age that they can cover someone. Even on the commercials, the fine print will inform you. It disappears quickly, but it is there to see.

Many agents, especially independent agents, gather a set of products and companies so that they can have a vast array or potential policies that can cover people who have had cancer, dementia, diabetes, sickle cell and many other diseases at level and modified rates that are less than the graded policies that come on your TV.

My point is that we have more tools in our toolbox and can save you money for a lifetime. Giving me 15-30 minutes is worth a lifetime of savings, and also I am local and only a phone call away. Cover yourself, your family and your elders & give me a try.
