I had not intended to write this Post but I was communicating with a Dear Friend in Berlin and somehow the words began to flow - so I captured them before they were 'lost in space and time'.
And yes, I had to check to see if it was 'a' or 'an' before 'H' and after consulting 5 different sources you see the result in the title. Here, then is my 'Homily':
There is no hope for a better yesterday. We must guard – indeed we must fight against allowing past events or allowing people, past or present, to govern our thinking, our acting, our choices as we move forward. Remember that there is NO going back – only forward. And, to find at least some peace, you must have the strength to accept those things which you cannot change. Remember, once the bell has rung, you cannot 'unring' it!
We must always remember that ‘life’ is a sacred gift. The core of that life is our ‘spirit’ – our ‘life force’ from which our passion, compassion and respect for our fellow man flows forth to do good works. To honour that ‘gift’ we need to fill our lives with positive thinking and with acts of kindness – we must fight negativity at all costs – never letting the past and negative experiences rob us of our opportunity for happiness or to jeopardise a better future.
We must give our ‘spirit’ flight – to help it soar by helping others in any way we can – large or small - help them be more successful in whatever they are trying to accomplish in their lives. Only by doing good works and helping others to be more successful can we hope to off-set the negativity in the world. Let ‘acts of kindness’ no longer be ‘random’, but be ‘ubiquitous’ – a continuous stream, a tsunami, to stem the tide of negativism, cynicism, neglect – benign or intended and the hatred driven by extremism.
We only have so much ‘mind space’ – it is our choice as to how we fill that space. It is like the Ram (random access memory) of a computer and we need to use it wisely and ensure it is reserved for those thoughts and ideas which will propel us forward, not inhibit or prevent us from doing so. Fill that space with positive thinking and you will find that life will be much more rewarding – much more worth living and sharing with others – that ‘greater happiness’ can be achieved.
For now, all we have is today. That is why they call it the ‘present’! We must learn and experience all we can from each day – carpe diem!
Our only hope is for a better tomorrow. However, to make it so, one must reflect on today when that day is done (i.e., we have opened our 'present') and then be led by our dreams for a better tomorrow – never wavering, never allowing ourselves to be pushed into making choices driven by our problems, but rather being pushed into making choices by our opportunities and our vision of the future we not only want but truly deserve.
Remember always that the ‘pain’ you feel today – whether emotional or physical, can become the ‘strength’ you will feel tomorrow.
Always onward - better, faster, stronger! Never allow life to beat you - get back up and be better, faster, stronger! Every day! Better faster, stronger! In every way! Better, faster, stronger! Soon I will be age 69, but I go to the gym almost every day to workout - hard. Better, faster, stronger! Always be the 'best you can be! Why settle for anything less? You owe it to yourself to be your 'best' You deserve to be your 'best' - always! Just do it!
