Misanthropists just need more time with the Apple Watch after a saturating fashion, tech, music, arts, celebrity, super model and world tour of the new wearable tech item from Apple.
New products, new music, new technology, new anything, except perhaps, new cars, we Americans can be cynics about from time to time. Also, as much as Americans adore success stories just maybe, we adore epic product failure stories more, because we learn from them.
Being skeptical about the Apple Watch, or about any new product isn't a permanent condition however, some of us just need time to assess the Apple Watch away from the noise. An elusive new product that most Apple Retail Stores won't have much inventory stocked in May. Reality is, we Americans probably would accept an Apple Car more readily than we would the Apple Watch.
Additionally, some of us are simply considering why we really need to spend that amount of money on yet another mobile "gadget" or device that is not all that essential as our heirloom Piaget is. Maybe we don't like wearing a watch at all because rubber watch straps make us itch anyway. (the aluminum case on the Apple Sport Watch isn't my favorite material to have against my skin for 8-10 hour despite my spouse wearing one, no problems.)
Besides, reports say the Apple Watch doesn't work all that well with some wrist tattoos either.
However the Internet of Things is becoming a reality for many of us, and as Americans age, Apple's wearable tech may become even more essential for ease of living comfortably. Apple Wearables are inescapable for the future.
"According to Gartner, Inc. (a technology research and advisory corporation), there will be nearly 26 billion devices on the Internet of Things by 2020.Researchestimates that more than 30 billion devices will be wirelessly connected to the Internet of Things (Internet of Everything) by 2020. As per a recent survey and study done by Pew Research Internet Project, a large majority of the technology experts and engaged Internet users who responded—83 percent—agreed with the notion that the Internet/Cloud of Things, embedded and wearable computing (and the corresponding dynamic systems will have widespread and beneficial effects by 2025." So here's to the misanthropists, and a summary of 8 reasons why they won't wear, or buy an Apple Watch for now. (below is a short list, not necessarily listed by priority).
- The majority of men (62%) and women (54%) believe "wearing an Apple Watch will mean you are trying too hard to be cool," Horizon Media's Finger on the Pulse survey showed.
- Apple Watch's first edition isn't perfect, waiting for Apple Watch 2.0, or better yet 3.0
- Price is too high, case is too thick, most apps are slow or limited
- Owning Yet Another "Gadget" to Charge
- Nearly 2-in-3 people ages 18 to 65 (62%) say they have no interest in owning the Apple Watch, according to Horizon Media's Finger on the Pulse survey.
- Some market analysts say their kids aren't interested in the Apple Watch, only want an iPhone
- Android Wear owner, Pebble backer, or Samsung Tizen OS user, not iOS
- Never Wear a Watch or Only Wear Omega, Rolex, TAG, Piaget
Apple isn't really trying to overcome all of the above objections however. They know some market analysts revised their sales estimates of the Apple Watch from 20 million units projected sold in 2015, down to 15 million units in 2015.
Maybe only 6% of smartphone and iPhone users will buy an Apple Watch.
But that's 15 million sold more than in 2014, and will probably take Apple close to a trillion dollar company this year.
So yes," I'm a believer". ( trivia, as in the song written by Neil Diamond and sung by Micky Dolenz in 1966 was one of just 40 singles in history to ever sell over a million advance orders, yes advance orders, in just 2 days. 1,051,280 singles sold to be exact) I just need a bit more time.
Apple Watch sales made history too, a million sold in advance preview online, in just under six hours. Apple Watch users have reported positive reviews, like my hearing impaired spouse, for him the taptic engine is awesome, and Apple Pay is expanding to more locations. A busy supermom professional tech friend says she's gained 65 minutes a week of time back to her schedule wearing an Apple Sport Watch weekly.
Still, some misanthropists won't ever wear the Apple Watch. They might be wearing Pebble, Samsung, Lenovo, Withings, or ASUS for now, or no watch at all. But Apple Wearable Tech is inescapable, and here to stay.
