Smart Phone Size--What Everyone is Missing!
What size will you pick?
As Apple invigorates the debate on how small or large your smart phone should be I think that there's a fundamental point that everyone is missing. And this brought into even sharper focus with the Apple Watch.
It's NOT about the size.
It's NOT about picking ONE size or a watch as a complete alternative.
It's about the evolving COMBINATION that you should pick. As the tablet has found a place to live with the iPhone, the new sizes are less about which one to pick, but which cluster of "smart technology" will serve you best. For me, the choices might vary from working at home to going on for a run. It's far from one or the other. I can see great uses for a larger phone at some times and smaller version for others. Of course, this could be a difficult choice as it's becoming "buy both." But the solution is now in the hands of the mobile carrier and manufactures to provide better deals for the customer. The burden must shift from me the consumer to the manufactures to offer a new version of the "family plan" or a "two for one" deal.
You see, I don't want to decide and simply limit my choices. I think I very well may need smart technology that can be more like my shoes than my old phone--it will match my life style in any given moment. And our carriers may need to explore the option of one service plan that can switch between phones--or work more effectively and economically.
It's time to think about technology as an extension of our lives and avoid the old school "fixed solutions" that force us to look back...and not to the future!
