This is a question that has haunted the globe throughout the last couple decades and will continue to boggle the minds of consumers for decades to co
me. Google and Apple have taken over the mobile industry with their flagship smartphones and firmware that provide most of the world with a cellular device tailored to their needs. Many people are satisfied with the device they have now and see no reason to make a switch from one to the other but there are others out there questioning whether they are getting the most out of their smart devices. There are a couple differences between Apple and Google that I must iterate on before going any further. Google’s android software currently holds a greater portion of the market share but you will find this software within many different types of phones. Samsung, HTC, and Motorola are perfect examples of smartphone producers that strictly use this software in their mobile devices. On the other hand, Apple is trying to create somewhat of a monopoly by producing their own devices with their own software. You will not find IOS on any device that is not made by Apple unless some major modifications have been made to the device. This being said, let’s dig into the juicy details.
I hope I don’t offend anyone by saying this but Apple products are built for the average consumer. They have a very simple user interface that can be used by anyone with little to no effort at all. The IPhone is a good phone for someone that is looking to use their mobile device for very basic purposes. Making a call, sending a text, and shooting an email to a coworker are great examples of things that an average consumer would need to do on a daily basis. If these are the only things you need to do with your mobile device, the IPhone is the phone for you. The simple application layout on the home screen of the device lets you easily navigate to the tasks you need to perform. When a new version of the software comes out, there are typically not many extravagant changes the consumer will have to adapt to. Apple has kept the same user interface on their device for the past ten years and it doesn't seem to be changing any time soon. I believe that the IPhone is perfect for the older generations and people that do not want to get the most out of a smart phone. The device is also good for a super busy corporate executive that just needs to make calls and send emails all day.
Android smartphones come with an array of customization features that you will just not see on the IPhone. The user is able to create a custom tailored experience that helps them get through their daily life. Both the Apple Store and the Google Play Store host applications that can be installed onto your device at any time but the complexity of the applications in the Play Store make it the most powerful. You can download applications that make changes to the device. You will not see these kinds of applications in the Apple Store. The Android smartphone line should be used by advanced consumers because you have to understand things like permissions and default applications. If the average consumer bought an android smartphone, they would almost immediately be presented with scenarios that they do not know how to handle. Google just can’t really do anything about this. These questions and scenarios are necessary and make the device what it is. If you are wanting to get the most out of the smart phone industry, go get an Android device and spend some time with it. Do some research and learn about the numerous amounts of things you can do to tailor your smart phone experience to your needs.
