Happy New Year 2016! To my dear friends, clients, co-workers and contractors!
I treasure the variety of projects and goals you all bring to me. You are my daily inspirational reminder that we may look, feel, or believe differently, but at the core of our being we are all aspiring to the same common value of making a positive difference in the world.
Thank you for including me as a part of that for you!
As we come into the new year and everyone starts forming their New Year’s Resolutions – I encourage you to take one specific action to make sure you achieve your goals….
WHAT ACTION? Build a ‘team’ to support you and all agree to a ‘Code of Honor’ to function within that big idea or goal (Thank you Blair Singer for the inspiration to do this many years ago for myself!).
Here is the one we have for The Thrival Company team! Enjoy the process of creating your own!
The core principles at The Thrival Company
- Empowerment - Our job is not to create dependencies with our client relationships, but to create independencies. If we get hired to do the same job over and over again for the same client, we have failed in empowering them to own and create lasting solutions.
- It's My Fault First - When anything goes wrong, you will look first internally and see why it's your fault this happened. We, at The Thrival Company, are not victims of external circumstances, we are powerful change leaders. Admitting fault is a position of power, as when we can find our own fault, we have the power to shift it. This also creates the space for others to shift and be empowered to take action and own their own fault.
- Mistake/Learn - We will achieve excellence in all that we do, not perfection. We live on a learning planet. Mistakes and failures will happen as that is essential for learning. You may feel bad or others may feel bad when you fail, but the faster we move from mistake to learning, the faster we will reach success. We do not make others feel bad when they fail, we shift them into learning quickly so we can reach success faster.
- Feedback Deepens Relationships - We are out to achieve the big hopes, dreams and aspirations of our clients. We cannot do this alone and without each other as a team. We will be masters at giving and receiving both positive and negative feedback. We will view all feedback as an opportunity to deepen our relationship with the person giving that feedback.
- All Relationships will Be Win/Win – We are committed that all relationships personal, professional, and financial will be designed win/win for all parties. We will attract and retain employees, contractors and clients who share this core value or we will not engage with them. We stand in a view of abundance and support for everyone to achieve their goals. We live in a paradigm of you AND me, not you or me.
- Everybody Builds Relationships and Everybody Sells – We are a small business with a huge vision for a global impact. Everyone in every position in our organization owns the success of this organization. Building new relationships that result in our financial and social success therefore is the responsibility of every person in the organization with no exceptions. We offer value and everyone should be able to communicate it, build relationships and sell that value to potential clients. We will support everyone on our team in mastering that skill.
- Anyone from any background or education can lead and be a productive member of any team – We are a leadership and team building organization. We know in our DNA that there is not one person on this earth who cannot step up and lead given the right support to do so. It is our job to see every person in every organization as the ‘10’ they can be based on their unique skills and abilities, not where they are stuck at. Is it our job to help that person be a ‘10’ in what they are meant to be, not force them to fit a pre-defined mold based on our own or others ideas and perceptions.
- Who you are being is more important then what you are doing or the skills you know right now – At The Thrival Company, we can mentor and teach you the skills you need to do your job. What we cannot force you to do is adopt a humble, courageous, and learning way of being around the reality that is the human condition. We cannot make you committed to what our goal is to ‘be’ for the world. For all of us to be successful at our positions, we will commit to being leaders, mentors, lifelong learners, committed to excellence in all that we do.
9. We shift our sails in the face of adversity. We are nimble, using our resources to get the job done under any circumstances. We are accountable to each other, supporting this principle for ourselves and when we observe each other bogged down in negativity or fear. - 10. We are capacity builders for ourselves and others: When we see an opportunity to expand our abilities or build new capacity in ourselves or others, we do not shy away from it. Instead we set goals, declare it, and take actions to make it happen.
This is an expectation of every employee (and we've now expanded it to our contractors) that accepts a position with our organization.
Warm Regards,
Elizabeth
