The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus are the hot devices right now. They're selling like crazy, and not that you will be surprised, but they're the fastest selling iPhones to date. Here is an excerpt from Apple's press release:
Apple® today announced it has sold over 10 million new iPhone® 6 and iPhone 6 Plus models, a new record, just three days after the launch on September 19. iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus are available in the US, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Puerto Rico, Singapore and the UK and will be available in more than 20 additional countries on September 26. The new iPhones will be available in 115 countries by the end of the year.“Sales for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus exceeded our expectations for the launch weekend, and we couldn’t be happier,” said Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO. “We would like to thank all of our customers for making this our best launch ever, shattering all previous sell-through records by a large margin. While our team managed the manufacturing ramp better than ever before, we could have sold many more iPhones with greater supply and we are working hard to fill orders as quickly as possible.”
But, there are issues. Users have been complaining about battery life and WiFi issues in iOS 8. But the biggest concern I've seen surrounds the iPhone 6 Plus. The 5.5-inch iPhone is a large phone, and some people who have managed to fit the phone in their pockets are reportedly complaining that the phone isbending. Yes, bending.
According to MacRumors, some iPhone 6 Plus owners are reporting that their phones look slightly bent and curved after it has been sitting in a pants pocket. According to the popular Apple blog, at least two of their commenters have experienced issues.
MacRumors forum user "hanzoh" said they had an iPhone 6 Plus in the front pocket of their suit pants, and after 18 hours the phone looked like this:
Commenter "DevinPitcher" claimed that their friend also experienced a bent phone after having the phone in their pocket:
I personally know several individuals who purchased an iPhone 6 Plus, and they are not experiencing any issues with their phones bending whatsoever.
Apple fans, do you have an iPhone 6 Plus? Comment below to share your feedback on the device and to let the community know if you are experiencing any issues. And Android fans, you can comment too. You know you want to.
Update 1: Gizmodo also posted a story on this.
Update 2: Gizmodo also posted about Lou from Unbox Therapy, who created the video below to show the iPhone 6 Plus bending. I have no idea why anyone would be bending their phone with this much force in a normal situation, but understandably, some people will still be concerned that the phone is bending.
Update 3: There is now a post on this subject up on Engadget.
Update 4: The same guy who did the bend test with the iPhone 6 Plus (as seen in Update 2) did the same test with a Galaxy Note 3.
