Apple have said that a “bigger screen needs a bigger resolution”. In terms of design, the new iPhone is rumoured to come in two display size variants – 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch. The smaller, 4.7-inch iPhone is expected to be called the iPhone 6, while the larger 5.5-inch iPhone is set to be known as either the iPhone 6L, or the iPhone Air.
The bigger version will see the introduction of a new phone phenomenon known as the ‘Phablet’ – a cross between a phone and a tablet. The major difference between the two, apart from the screen size, will be with the power of both phones which includes varying power application processors, chipsets and battery life.
Apart from design, display and camera quality, Apple is also expected to introduce higher resolution displays, by using displays with a resolution of 828×1472 pixels for both the 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch iPhone 6 models. A version of the Lytro camera will likely be inbuilt in the device which has 8x optical zoom lens, light field engine 1.0 and a light field sensor.
